Default HDMI question..

Ive been hearding alot of talk regarding it, especially with the new Elite package including the cable.

What does it do exactly? I know the cable that came with my premium package had that switch that you could switch from HD to whatever the other one was, but what does this new cable do? :?

Well, the difference between Component and HDMI is that Component transfers signal in analogue, and HDMI transfers in digital. This makes the HDMI more favorable for HD signals, since they are digital, and this cable can transfer the signal without any conversion. When using the Component cables, the signal is first converted into analogue from the console, transfers through the cable, and is then converted into a digital signal once again. What I have seen so far, the 2 cables don't make that big of a difference, but then again I have never seen a 1080p comparison.

There is a problem with the 360 elite HDMI. That problem is it's version 1.2 in comparison to PS3's version 1.3 HDMI. I am not exactly sure what that means, but there are problems with some types of sound support with the 1.2 HDMI.
