Sorry to drag the thread back on topic, but with regard to the HD DVD and Blu Ray format war, I don't think it's going to be such an issue - if HD DVD "wins," Blu Ray will continue as a format purely for PS3 games. If Blu Ray "wins," HD DVD will continue as an alternative format for movies and the like, due to it's lower cost, certainly for a few years.
Sony continued using Super 8, which to all intents and purposes was mini Betamax, in their camcorders for a looong time, so why wouldn't they do the same with Blu Ray? Plus, added to the fact that VHS and DVD lived happily together for a good few years - i personally used to buy films that I wasn't so bothered about on VHS, and films I really did like on DVD. HD DVD could become the format of choice for parents buying their young kids the latest kids TV show releases (that will be of no interest to the child in 6 months time), and Blu Ray will be for the parents' themselves to buy Spiderman 9 and CSI: Miami season 27. Especially when you consider that LG have already built a unit that will play both formats. And yes, here in the UK we get shafted on the price of most things. When I was in Canada (about 3 years ago), everyone was moaning that fuel had gone up to a shocking 2 bucks a gallon - that was almost a sixth of what we were paying in the UK at the time. Extortionate... ![]() |

England is a great country and I am proud to be English... but over the last few years it has become a place that is not so good, especially in the urban area's.
The general attitude sucks big time and the taxes and prices are just unbelievable. Fuel here in Vancouver is $1.20 in the morning and in the afternoon it drops down to $1.10. Thats about 50p a ltr and for here it is VERY expensive.... was not that long ago that gas was about 80cents a ltr. Other things that are cheap are food, clothes, shoes, cars, services (of all sorts), labour, entertainment... well just about everything except INSURANCE on cars etc... man is that expensive. Wages are about the same if a little lower but they go much further. As I said I adore the UK and am proud to be British but compared to some countries the UK sucks but is better than others. The biggest shock to me each time I go back is just the attitudes of the people in general. Des  |

Kev.... as I said as a general rule... I used to live in Pompey and found that at night if you passed a lad walking along the road and you looked him in the eyes it would be a challenge and some verbal would ensue... it's so much different here... the atmosphere is not one of aggression so much.
Yes yes I know that we have serious drug related crime and gang shootings etc but the atmosphere is relaxed.... and no that does not mean your murderer smiles as he shoots you for your wallet  And again don't get me wrong I adore England... I can also remember similiar conversations with my parents talling me how the UK has slipped... maybe it's just an older person thing. Des  |

Of course its an old person thing, they have witnessed the "slip", i dont get that when i look at people, if i look at a guys bird, then it all starts, lol, but in general i know all the peeps that go round stabbing people.
Though i dont hang round with them. Kev 8)
