Yeah, there have been a few movies that I've seen int UMD/Blu-Ray.
Also, this reminds me of the whole Nintendo fanboy "THEY STOLE NINTENDO'S IDEAS!!" rants I used to read just because I was bored and wanted to see what people come up with. |

This makes sense. I remember reading an interview with one of the top bras working with 360, and he said that they want to give their customers a choice of any format they want, but when he was asked about Blu-ray he said that he doesn't think that it will do any good. But right now Blu-ray actually has a lot more support from movie companies, and it is outselling HDDVDs, so its not a surprise for Microsoft to switch sides on the next gen disk. If this happens, it just means that Blu-ray won the format war.

Basically, even if blu ray does win, if microsoft go ahead with this, then it isnt going to matter is it.
I cant see that they will put games onto blu ray, as that wont be needed for quite some time, so all it would be for is HD movies, which since i dont have a HDTV, will be a pretty pointless purchase. Kev 8) |

I don't think that they'd do that. I was just thinking about it, and bluray drives are about $500 or more on their own, microsoft charges like $200 for a HDDVD drive, when they're probably about $150 or less for a computer, I think, so with that logic, a bluray drive would cost anyone who wanted it to shell out about $600. Would be way to expensive IMO, I don't think anyone in their right frame of mind would go for it.
And don't say something like "well than that would make you in your wrong frame of mind for buying a $600 PS3 with a bluray player, samething, no?" because it's not the same, that would put the good Xbox 360 at $1000 while the PS3's still $600 for the good one. |
