Default 1080p

Quick question for you 360 owners. My friend just bought a 1080p Mitsubishi HDTV and a 360. His problem is it doesn't display the games that say 1080p on the box in 1080p, only 1080i. Is there an update he has to enable or something? What's he doing wrong?

As far as i am aware the 360 dosent support 1080P

And tell him not to put it on 1080i, put it on 720p, its better.

Does he have the HD cables? I'm pretty sure those are required.

I think he has a set of component cables, I don't know if they're the ones that came with the system though, sorry about the ignorance. I've heard that 720p looks better than 1080i too. My next question is if the 360 doesn't support 1080p why do some of the games say 1080p on the back of the box?

EDIT: I just talked to him and he has the componenet cables that came with the system.

Tell him to buy the HD cables and look for the setting in the games themselves.

As far as I know, the 360 supports all three definitions.

Xbox 360 does in fact support 1080p, you just need the HI-DEF cables....it comes with the premium package I know about that 100%...ask what he got....the Core or Premium package...

Don't roll your eyes at me, of course he got the Premium package, he's not a 'tard. Anyway, his T.V. says what kind of resolution it's displaying at any given time, and when he plays his games it says 1080i.
So Constantine, you think he should look for the setting in game? I'll let him know. Thanks for the help guys.

Now you're just doing this  to be an *sshole   .
Yeah, he tried configuring the video output to 1080p and when he does that the screen just goes black for a little bit and then it goes back to 1080i.

My friend said he talked to some guy on XBox Live and he told him that there's gonna be an update that will enable 1080p in the next month or so.

So, it looks like we'll have to wait and see if that happens, thanks again for all your help guys.
