Isn't 1080i better for still images and 720p better for moving images?

I heard that somewhere, but I'm not sure if its true. It doesn't really matter. since these are resolutions for moving images.

Yes change it to 720p

This is how it works

I uses two lines for one line (inter woven) so 1080 / 2 = 540

P uses one line for one line (progressive) do 720 / 1 = 720

And about the still image thing, i think as its not moving then yeah it uses all 1080 lines. But i would rather better game graphics than better phot graphics.
