I went through three official XBox 360 headset. All worked fine in the beginning then slowly stopped working as time went on. Starting with me not being able to talk, but able to hear, then both hearing and talking competely stopped. After the third one I had enough and by that point, the wireless headset had been released. I bought it and never looked back. It's completely worth the $60 price tag. It actually sounds clearer than the wired headset and the battery lasts surprisingly long. The only downfalls are the short range and the occasional dropout. Other than that, I would say instead of wasting money on faulty wired headsets, just spend the extra cash on the almost always reliable wireless.

, it came with a subscription to Xbox Live that I got for the old Xbox. So I think you might just have a broken one.

if you just got the 360, try going to family settings and make sure you can communicate with it and ****. thats what was wrong with mine when i first got it

I believe you can download vegas multiplayer demo, not too sure as i own the game.
