When I asked a Microsoft Rep at the Manhattan's Digital Life show about the HD-DVD drive, I was told that the current gen doesn't even support games on it. It is strictly for movies only, but they "might" come out with a new one that will support games.

So in other words you will need to buy a whole new Xbox360 to play the HD games :?

HD games have nothing to do with Blue-Ray/HD-DVD. Granted some aspects of HD gaming are helped with more storage space (textures etc) but are you saying current 360 games (which run on a 9gb DVD) aren't HD? I think Microsoft and the software houses would disagree with that. Plus, most of the new PS3 games have come in at under 10gb which means they could have fitted on a DVD.

It's possible it's not true anyway, or at least a software update for the 360 will allow HD-DVD games to run on it in future. If it can play movies, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be able to play games.

I ment to say HD-DVD games. I know perfectly well that the games on the 360 that come on DVD are HD.

I completly 100% feel that 8 years time, games will be in excess of 20 gigs, and no not just cut scenes etc. I mean level sizes, graphics improvements, look at the first ps2 games to the current ones.

It is a con for the 360 as its going to need an add-on whereas ps3 will not, but its not as big a problem as some the ps3 currently have now.

I'd like big games and all, but I don't think I'd like the $80-$100 price tag or the 2 year wait that would probably come along with them... :?

I still beleive that our video games of the future are going to be holograms that we interact with in a 10x10 room. The Wii is getting closer to that idea, but it's still a far cry away.

My uncle (who is really into that kind of stuff) said at Thanksgiving that they recently made a working hologram, with no fog, dust or anything.

There are numerous uses for holographic technology that already exist

for example.

This is what I think is the future for disk based storage media - the HVD or Holographic Versatile Disk which is the same size as a DC/DVD etc but has the capacity to store up to 3.9 Tb (thats Terrabytes - 1Tb = 1024Gb)

forget HDTV, the next big thing will be 3DTV, I've seen a program on the telly about it where the images actually stuck out the TV in 3D, without the need for glasses, this will be the next big thing in gaming I think, could you imagine for example, tennis on the Wii, where you saw the ball actually flying towards you?!?!
