Gears is GREAT..... not as pleasing as COD3 (in my own opinion) but very good indeed. Still working through the single player mode but did jump into someone elses single player mode for a spot of co-op single player campaign fun.... basically one can help others complete the single mission.

Lots of blood and death. The chain saw is GREAT and the one liners are FRIGGIN funny as hell.... I had just finished cutting a locust in half with the thing,,, blood and gore being splashed and chucked absolutely EVERYWHERE and then my character drops this perfect one liner "oh damn I think I got something in my eye" and that's it I am on the floor laughing me socks off.

This game is heralded as the truely 1st next generation title... it is fantastic and the sound and feel is just perfect. Still getting used to the movement controls and taking cover but as it stands it is one of the best, if not the best, titles for the 360 out.

The graphics are more chunky and less lifelike than COD3 and perhaps that is why I do not rate the graphics so high but don't get me wrong the graphics are AWESOME. The enemy AI is... well actually intelligent and will take cover when you assault them and retreat and then try and out flank you.
The music in the game is something out of the movies and the distant sounds of a derelict city and far off locust (enemy species) hordes is something out of a horror movie.

this game is so bleepin awesome!!!!!!!

i played it at my friends house for like 6 hours straight. hes like "c'mon lets go get some snacks" and Im like "uhhmmm....kinda busy right now..."
but i didnt say ot in a mean tone or any thing, he knew i was kidding. it is so awesome, its got intense gameplay and good graphics and it is very lifelike. For example. you have to hit Ain a certain zone to reload:

-------------------|-----

this bar moves ^back and forth and you gotta hit A while its in the cyan & bolded zone. If you do not, it will jam up, just like in real life!!( i mean the jamming part, not the bar that moves back and forth part)

oh yeah the reload thing is a new twist.... all other games you just reload and thats it... with GEARS you can do that OR you can interact with the reload... there is a sliding bar and one has to double hit it in just the right spot to reload faster and to be given a slightly better damage on that clips ammo.... hmm didn't explain that very well... how about golf games... where the swing meter works and one has to push a button in the right place as not to slice the ball.. similiar thing.... get it wrong and the clip james and valuable seconds tick by as you sort out the jam... a nice touch I think.

Not sure about the life like comment... more 2000ad characters than life like. Don't get me wrong the graphics are awesome indeed just not life like... the derelict city is GREAT mind you.... would have loved some more destructable items to mess with but hey no worries... all in all this is a MUST have game.

*** UPDATE ***

Still bloody awesome.... now came across a bloody great spider nasty thing with armour plated legs and hordes of Wretches that run block for it... also some nasty geezers in black coats that shoot these friggin exploding arrows... and man they don't often miss. Some sort of elite guards.
Have to get in close with these geezers mean and nasty with the pump action.... BLAM HEAD SHOT is all my neighours can hear.... sure they think I am some sort of mad man by now.

Oh yeah boomers too... these are big retarded locusts with rocket launchers... and man they are a pain... OMG I almost forgot about the BERSERKERS... not sure if I forgot or was trying to blank the thought of them from my mind. Can only kill these blind creatures with a well aimed satalite laser... these things sniff and listen for you then CHARGE... so one has to tippy toe about and zap em from the stars.... man it's hard.

Oh yeah the Wretches have an elite 'evolved' version too which..... well i guess you guys will have to find that out for yourself as I think I have spoilt it enough

*** UPDATE ***

Did I mention that this game is great???

Ok well into this now.... but have still not completed the single player missions... am having problems killing some evil looking Mother-in-law Monster called Col. Raam. He is being a right buggar to kill while hurtling along on some super freight train. But I will persist until I kill him.

Ok online play... have dabbled a little bit now.... you can team up with others and complete the single player levels as a team... you can also select the hardest differculty setting which is only available with team co-op campaign.
This was actually good fun but INSANE level is just the right word to call it

The other online game I played was some team deathmatch between eight players.... The maps are small and designed for quick battles with lots of out flanking moves. I can see clans forming for this trype of play very quickly indeed and becoming very slick at it too.
Not the sort of online gaming I like to be honest but as I have only just started playing online with the game I am guessing that I will find the thrill of it will grow on me.

Ok now back to Col. Ramm and the friggin train.... TICKETS PLEASE.

I have played it, and i do like it alot, and will be getting, the HDTV did help it out alot though, unfortunatly i cant afford a HDTV right now.

PS3 is still better performance but pagnell swayed me, its not worth the money.

Sounds like a sh*t hot game but I made the mistake of mentioning it to the other half and she now wants to buy me it for Christmas! Damn!!! This means I have to wait for nearly three weeks. Bought Tiger Woods 2007 instead. Superb game.
