what a bummer im not saying hdds are expensive but like £40 for a 20gb one
You can attach a laptop drive in an official 360 hd case but it is a lot of hassle and is also a hardware mod that will break the gaurantee and also could result in a bannage from LIVE.
The Xbox 360 hardrive is a standard laptop sata hard drive with fancy cases. You can connect a laptop hardrive, but these cost similar to what the 360 hdd costs anyways.
Perosnally the extra money for the elite covers the 120gig hdd anyway, so id go for that.

microsofts hdds are stupid expensive, and the consoles break down so fast that I dont want to mod mine
hmmm minteresting comment...
The 360's did used to be unreliable agreed. But Microsoft have resolved this with the 65nm chips they have inside them which run alot cooler. I am planning on modding mine with lights and fans etc etc to make it look pretty and also get it running even colder.
