Need help.... psp won't read discs

I just got this psp and it won't read movies or games.

It just spins the disc and does 1 of 2 things,

It will either stop spinning and tell me (the disc could not be read)

or it will just spin and spin and spin, none stop and not give me no

kind of errors. and I can still move around the dash board.

I have just put in a new UMD drive and it is still doing the exact same thing.

Im experiencing the same problem as you are, a friend gave me his PSP after buying a new one and its filled with viruses and it cant read the UMD disc games i insert in it.

Can it be rescued or should I write it off?

can anyone help us?

Sounds like a busted laser reader... these can be replaced.

Er no your psp is not filed with virus's.

Perhaps your right, its not filled with viruses. The reason why i thought that was because everytime i connect it to my pc, afterwards my pc has viruses on it. I know know for a fact my pc is clean. Perhaps its the memory card? could be the memory card ja. Anyway i check what i caan do in terms of the lazer.

I'm still new to PSP repairs

but wouldn't replaceing the UMD drive be a fix for a bad laser?

Considering the laser is part of the UMD drive?

Or is there something somewhere else that has to do with the laser that I don't know about?
