There's probably some kind of crap app that runs down a forum list and sends everyone a PM.
There are 2 things about this I would like to know 1. How many people actually fall for this rubbish. 2. Of the ones that do, why are they so dumb! if you ignore spammers and don't join/buy anything. They won't earn money and will proabably stop spamming...

of the millions and millions of people that use the internet, there are bound to be at least 1,000 dumb users who dont know anything better who will click on links.
Just think, someone is bound to do it. Thats how scams work, by taking peoples stupidity for granted
