My first guess is that you're using the "passphrase" you picked and not the actual hexadecimal key you should be using. The WEP key is usually generated from the passphrase (that you picked out) and ends up being an indistinct string of letters and numbers; this is the network key you have to use to connect.
On the other hand, you should probably consider using WPA/TKIP for security on your router. WEP keys are pretty useless nowadays and can be easily cracked; all they really keep out are the casual leecher. Also, the network key for WPA/TKIP is what you pick out, not a mixture of random letters and numbers.

It would be an option in your router settings, if its available. For the wireless security section, I would assume there is some sort of dropdown box where you can select different types of security.

Hi 2poor,
I tried looking at the security settings for the router.....However there is nothing that even mentions WPA/TKIP security. I dont think it will let me change it....Nor can I find anything about the WEP and change that. |

Sounds like you will have to start with the settings on your router. I don't have a BT router but I guess they are much alike. How are the other wireless connections managed? WEP? WPA? Try using the same settings that the other connections use. My Netgear router has the option of only accepting connections from a known mac address, a better option then WEP keys as mac addresses are unique.
Hope this helps. |

Hi Pirate,
Other wireless connections are handled using WEP also :{......I tried looking for the function where you can accept certain MAC addresses. But I cant see anything about it in my Router Manager. I was thinking about bringing my security down from 128bit to 64bit. But I'm not sure how to do that also......OMG.....I'm a right n00b :{ |

Ace,
For some reason BT don't supply a manual with the 2091 but you may find the manual for the 2000 will give you enough info to figure it out. http://www.voyager.bt.com/2000/userg...userguide.html Was this set up by BT or someone else? I'd make a note of the settings and print off the guide before you start messing with it. |
