Default [PSP] psp will play old psx games

source: IGN

mr Kutaragi from sony said that psx games will be able to be played on psp consoles without hacking methods
maybe they'll do some site from downloading isos (paying of course)

to me it's just a good chance for piracy to get isos from p2p programs...
(but i'm glad if it's true anyway, i'm just a little skeptical)

PSX was the original name for PSOne back in 1995 when it was released.

Sounds great, I'd love to finally be able to play non UMD games on my PSP since their's no homebrew for 2.6. Is this free though?

I imagine it will be an official application that will rip original PS1 disks to create an image that is digitally signed and can be played on the PSP. Whether this application is free is another matter.

And there is plenty of homebrew for 2.6 providing you own GTA. Check here for a full list of compatible homebrew and links where to download them.

What about control and size issues? The PSP only has one analog, and two shoulder buttons, and if you remember, CDs back then held about 650mbs, making a 3 CD game close to two gigs. Two gig cards are still pretty expensive. Especially if you're only able to fit one game on there.
