Default PSP2 Release Date

I found this article saying an improved PSP is going to come out in time for the holidays. Not really a "PSP2" since it is still a regular PSP, just with some new features. An integrated camera will be included, along with a built in hard-drive. Do you think this is true?

I think that this isn't true at all. What would all the current PSP users say about it? But even if it is true it will probably cost more than the head start set of the original PSP and it will find less users.

I think there is some truth to it myself. It's natural for things like the PSP to be updated occasionally and as for what the current owners would say... well, it's life to be honest. When you buy a device you don't get any guarantees it isn't going to get better over time. I bought a 3.02 Ghz P4 CPU over two years ago and it cost me a fair amount (about £350 if I recall). I could have bought it six months later for half of that amount but that is the way of these things and it is no different here with the PSP.

If it is true it will be introduced like the new DS Lite, with the old DS still on sale for a short time at a reduced cost.

What are you basing the claim on? Whatever protection scheme is introduced will be bypassed by the hackers eventually. They always are.

What a rediculously stupid thing to say. It will not be 'priceless crap', it will just be worth less than before. Don't you realise this is how things work in the tech industry? Think about how many other examples exist of this scenario.

i think at sony they've learned from their mistakes and won't leave the same openings to hackers as they did the first time....anyway versions 2.01 to 2.60 aren't completely hacked yet...

There is no such thing as an unhackable system. It's a question of time rather than if.
