if you got it from PSP BREW you should be safe
So, even though Norton detects it as a virus, its really not one?

Well just to be sure, get your downgrader from a known source. I suggest the one at PSPbrew.com :P

Btw, the downgrader is by MPH.

the psp is great, but its not great enough to have a built in anti-virus, yet. Who's our representative for Sony, i have an idea.

I checked the norton site a while ago. The bad upgrade is normally download from the net via a PC. On the PC, when Norton does a standard scan on incoming files, it will detect the PSP brick malware.

Not quite. Norton picks up the fact the bricker .pbp file works with the firmware of the PSP so it will give exactly the same result to official upgrades, 1.0/1.5 wallpapers changers, 1.0/1.5 version changers and anything else that makes alterations directly in the firmware. My point is that the fact Norton picked it up doesn't mean it will brick your PSP.
