There were speculations about the square button not being responsive, but Sony states that it only affects a very small percentage of the Japanese units, about 0.6% to be exact. But they confirm that the U.S. and Euro models will not be affected and will have it revised. I have a JAP unit, but I do not have this problem.

Sony has also changed the manufacturer of the PSP's LCD screen. Early PSPs had Sharp LCD screens, and any PSPs bought after Feburary will have Samsung LCD screen. While this is not really a problem, people have admit that the Sharp LCD is sharper and more colorful than the Samsung one. So yes, that means all of you that are getting the PSPs when it comes out in the U.S. and Europe will get the Samsung LCD.

The UMD drive also can eject the disc and turn itself into a disc shooter, because the lid is spring loaded. Easy solution: just put your finger over the top when you eject the UMD. Remember, this will only happen if you have the PSP at a weird angle when you eject, such as having it upside down or on its side.

Other than that, no problems. I've been very happy with mine so far.

I believe those problems are only related to the Japanese import of PSP. As for problems, I'm not exactly sure if you can call this a problem but playing on my brother's Ridge Racers, I noticed my left thumb was sore from using the analog button (It's made of hard plastic and is a bit rough). Feels similar to the joystick from n64 controller except the analog slides around instead of being positioned on a little contraption. Well anyways it's more of a user preference because I suppose you could always use the d-pad for most games, just be warned if theres any analog intensive games :P

The first one only affects the Japanese PSPs, but the last two affects all PSPs.

the screen thing still seems to be a bit of legend, no one yet has confirmed that the samsung screens arent as sharp.

another problem ive found is that the colour of the meun system got stuck on yellow at the end of february and i had to skip it forward a few days to get the cool green for march

i am disgusted sony could release kit with such a monumental flaw

I have a Import PSP with no problems. A guy on another site has one and his battery is now no good. It won't charge and does not work anymore. I don't know if his was defective, and I don't know how much time he spent playing it. So I took my battery out of my PSP, and I only put it in when I am playing on the go. Hopefully a second party will come out with a better battery.
