PSP Continues To Rule Japanese Charts - PSP-Forum.com

Yeah, we know what you're thinking: "ho-hum, the PSP rules the Japanese weekly charts yet again." Well, it may be expected at this point, but do we always have to remind you that the Nintendo DS was once outselling Sony's portable by a 4:1 margin in the land of the Rising Sun...? Of course, it certainly helps to have the amazing PSP software that dropped just recently.

For Japan, it's all about Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, which quickly eclipsed the million-sales mark and has continued to spur sales of the PSP week in and week out since the game's launch. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, which released in March, is also a likely catalyst for the continued success of the sleek hardware. Here are the official Media Create sales numbers for Japan for the week ending April 27:

* PSP - 92,411
* Wii - 48,796
* Nintendo DS - 42,435
* PlayStation 3 - 9,107
* PlayStation 2 - 7,108
* Xbox 360 - 1,283

Once again, the PSP has sold almost more than the Wii and DS combined. Oh, and you may think that the release of GTAIV this past week will cause a big spike in PS3 sales (forget the 360; that system wouldn't sell in Japan if it came with a free diamond ring), but the Japanese usually don't respond to GTA. We're sure we'll see a little increase, but that's about it.
