I think my lawnmower is a 1.4 ltr.   Just teasing, I would kill for the gas mileage though. We crazy Americans love driving humongous gas guzzlers for some reason. :?

hey a 1.4 is all I need ATM, fairly cheap to insure, good on petrol.

The difference is the economy, over here ge get crucified for having bigger engines through tax (even more so if we own a 4X4), all this global warming bul****. over there your roads are mostly straight so big heavy engines are OK. plus USA government dont seem to care about global warming (I say let it happen, it will mean wales will turn into the bahamas)

I'd prefer a jap car though, high BHP out of a smaller engine, better performance.

I live by some great roads, some which are probably famous for being dangerous, this is the best car i've had seeing as its glued to the road and is quite nippy. (bearing in mind my previous cars were: corsa 1.5TD, Micra 1.0, Polo 1.0, Fiesta 1.1i, peugeot 309 1.9GLD)

You know what I find strange is that here and in the US we all love Big cubic motors.... nippers around here start off in 5.0ltr StangDogs because there cheap, same as in the UK the nippers start off with Clio, Fiestas, Axa etc....
So we have BIG units up front but the speed limits are so low and the top ends on most of these big motors are nothing to write home about.... whereas in the UK small enigines still amount to some good top end speeds.
Must admiit big motors with low gearing does make for some serious laying down of rubber on the roads.

Would love to have my motor in the UK... would be fun... I know of one guy that doea have one that he brought back from the States.

Not the best of ideas, Jeremy clarkson had a GT40 shipped over here in UK and went driving in it, got stuck in a traffic jam.

AND i hear you say...

only problem was, he was the cause of it, he encountered some width restrictions and tried getting through, now these things allow vans to fit through but his GT40 wouldnt. By this time a line behind him had formed, resulting in the inability to turn round

What i like about the jap motors is, the americans slate them for being so small, eg a Golf 2.0 GTi, but i wouldnt be suprised at all if it outrun you house on wheels.

My missue here has a Golf (German you know not Jap) 2ltr GTI... great car indeed... but my 'house on wheels' get a wiggle on something rotten.... but that is all down to the torque.
As I initially stated these big blocked units are built and geared for quick get aways not top end.

In the UK I used to drive big cars,,, Granada's Scopio's etc. and I am not sure that my'house on wheels' is that much wider, well a bit perhaps

Not to upset our American cousins but the Japanesse and to a good extent the European cars are better finished than American cars. Better plastics and buttons etc... linings in boot lids and stuff.

Fuel consumption is now getting to be a dig deal here and in the states so that the small compact Euro and Jap cars are now being seriously looked at.
Having said that I do not feel as comfortable driving the Golf when I can see clearly underneath the big trucks that frequent these roads.

I actually adore my Canadian built American 'house on wheels' but wish that I had a bigger Hemi engine... 5.7 Hemi High output would be good

All differs to where you live, i dont like them, i would hate to have one here.

But when i was out in the US i stayed with my aunt and drove around my uncles dodge ram. Man that thing pulled, i loved it, out there, here, no way.

Here give me an arial atom supercharged anyday.
2.0L honda civic engine, in a frame that ways little more that a "crotch rocket" as you americans call them, sports bikes to us europeans.

Anyways Have a look at clarkson and the ariel atom notice his very dry sense of humor.

If you despise chavs I wholly recommend you don't make your car look like that piece of sh*t. 99.9% of people who see you drive it will think you are a ned.

I have said it before and I will say it again, modified cheap cars = bad taste baseball cap wearing chavness.
