Speaking personally I like having nearly all my music collection with me at once so I went for a 60gb iPod black but some people find the size of the device is more important. Also, every iPod apart from the Shuffle sounds crap in comparison due to a different decoder chip set.

Yea I like the shuffle better than my ipod 30gb because its not as bulky and it easy to carry when ur working out and for a little thing the volume it carries is pretty freakin sweet

LOL...I'm listening to my black nano right now.

4GB is MORE than I'll ever need. What are you going to do with 1,000 songs? I have 150 on right now and I don't even NEED all of them. Plus it's small and pretty durable, as long as you have a skin for it.

It's stupid when people fill up their iPods with 1,000,000 songs but only listen to like 200. (there's no need for 60GB)

Whatever you do, don't get a video...my friends battery dies after like a half hour of playing videos, and like an hour of listening to songs.

That is one of the downsides to the iPod video, the battery but it's not quite as bad as you said. If you just listen to music it's about 10 hours and 2+ hours for video only I think. If you're going to watch vids on it you just have to bear this in mind and take a charger. I see the video playback as more of a nice added feature to a great music player.

I don't think I could sit there and watch a movie on that little ass screen for 2+ hours, anyways

I watched some music videos on my friends iPod and it's no worse than watching a PSP video imo. My favorite of the bunch would have to be the Nano.

I would have said the same before buying it but you would be surprised. As for your advice to not buy a Video, I cannot disagree more. It is clearly the best iPod by a margin and the fact it sounds better than the rest is a bonus.

But it's so damn BULKY and EXPENSIVE. I was in the Apple store getting a skin for my nano, and some kid walked up with his brand new Video, and he looked ****ed. He went up to the guy and showed him his screen (CRACKED big time) The guy asked "did you have it in your pocket?", and the kid said "no it was in my backpack, in the case I bought". The guy replied calmly "well then, there isn't much we can do for you". After like 15 minutes of arguing back and forth, the kid stormed out of the store with a useless iPod Video.

Don't get me wrong, the nano screen is by no means anymore durable (probably less). But I just think, what if that was me with a $400 awesome piece of technology, totally useless, because I made a stupid mistake. I tend to make a few stupid mistakes here and there, so I wouldn't want one of them to cost me $400.

iPod video > all.

I just picked up a broken 30gb one for $75 that I hope to fix. What fails on them is pretty easy to diagnose, and further, pretty easy to fix. Common issues are cracked LCD (user negligence), bad logic board ($40+ on eBay), and bad HDs (~$100 on eBay).

My friend has one and I think they're fantastic, I hope I can get this broken one I have to work.

Also, unless you're using PMP to use full resolution on the PSP (480x272), the video size is actually the same on the iPod (320x240) as it is on the PSP. Quality is pretty good too. As Pagnell said, there is a huge difference in sound quality too, noted especially in the bass.

Bulky? Thing looks pretty damn tiny to me, my empty wallet has more bulk to it.
