if you think about it, the sun is further away than most planets yet we can see the sun every day and you can't see any planets with the naked eye. (you can see mars and venus i think on very very rare occasions and they just look like stars unless your looking for them)

they don't need to, the sun's light reflects off them, similar to the moon.

but what you were saying is that its easier to see the sun than the planets, and that would be because the sun gives off a lot more light than the planets do from their reflections. but im no space expert....

plus the sun is a whole lot BIGGER than the planets, its like comparing looking at a lightbulb in a room then looking at a small marble in the corner of the room (a BIG room)

its funny because i remember when we studied about space and stuff in elementary school and we had to do projects. i did one of all the planets and the sun and it revolved and stuff like it normally would, and when i made the planets, they weren't even close to what they should've been. i mean, jupiter was almost as big as the sun  that was the same with everyone else in my class.
just think of if i had it to scale.... not even the solar system sets that you buy nowadays are up to scale.... the planets aren't that small in them.

heres another interesting fact: there are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on earth!

how do they know how many stars are in the universe, lol. really though, its just an estimate. if the universe is how i imagine it, then there would be an infinate amount of stars (and planets).
