i notice wei wei on every day here and that person gets banned, what did he do, just curious

theres a bunch of people (or just one) that keep joining the forum to post spam. they copy peices of random text from what look like classic novels and educational texts, and insert links to a few websites, with the caption "wowgold", randomly towards the end, the text they use has no relevence to the post, or to World of warcaft, or any of the other games mentioned. They often dig up old threads and post about 5 or 6 times. My guess is they are probably chinese and have a minor grasp of english, or they would be a lot more imaginative. I doubt these sites get any hits from psp forum users, and i aslo reckon this is not the only forum affected. They are a constant nuisance. Its highly reccomended you just ignore the spam and dont reply and certainly not quote the message. Incidentally wei wei was one of the first to do this. The mods could do an IP check to see if it is the same person.
Im not sure what they gain from it, maybe infections from viruses or an actual genuine site. Either way their imagination is bad (cos no one with intelligence will fall for it) and they targeting the completely wrong crowd (if it is world of warcraft)

Incidentally, are these random spam attacks coming from the same IP?

No idea, didn't think to check, maybe the ones that happen at the same time, but I bet that the ones that happen a couple days away from each other have nothing to do with each other.
Either way, it'd be a lot easier to ban an IP than to ban a new person every couple days or week or so.

its a person cos they were on for about 20 minutes. Banning the IP would be a good idea. I dont know why they bother, it just gets deleted, and no one visits the ****ty sites they inconspicuously insert throughout the whole text lol.
Another thing, they usually dig up old posts, not post on new ones, this was deliberate!!!

Anyway not a huge prob cos they get deleted quickly. Just thinking if theres a way to prevent it from happening again then it a good idea to take that action rather than deleting 6 posts and banning a "member" every 1-2 days which equals more works for mods in the long run.... And breathe
