I think in different parts of the world things are excepted more than in others... for instance here in Vancouver seeing a man in his 20/30s with a skateboard is not out of the norm... but back in Pompey one would automaticallt assume he is a retard or has just stolen it.
The point I was making earlier on is that it is socially acceptable that my children can be gamers but an old git like me can't... you see gaming is considered a complete waste of time, apointless act if you will.... but me playing chess or backgammon is considered an intellectual past time and not pointless. I see no difference just that society conception of one over the other. The other point was drinking beer til you fall over is a young mans thing and frowned upon if I did it... but achieving the same results by drink expensive Scotch is not. Man do what you want to do when you want to do it and screw what is considered the norm..... ONE RULE and one rule only... don't hurt others when you do your own thing. Des ![]() |

![]() but just to contribute to the actual topic - I luuurve lady gamers! Its so funny to get beaten by a girl on so-called mens games - Tekken, GT etc.. I couldn't agree more that the gaming stigma is attached to geeky kids and it's refreshing to see the world is opening up... As the gaming generation that has grown up on Playstation is now getting to become the decision makers of the world (and as a result of them not 'growing out' of gaming), its only going to become more and more accepted. |

Hiya Scu...er Redfox
![]() ![]() I was hoping that when the likes of Thrash and... well whoever become millionaires from gaming the geeky stereo type might crumble burt it is taking it's time. So are you still in Southampton or have you escaped??? I know that the new wall around the city is to stop anyone getting out and thus contaminating the rest of the uk Having a city full of relatives must be awkward at times...I mean having to marry your cousin because of a limited gene pool must be a real drag... as well as your knuckles on the ground hahahahahahahahahahahaAll joking aside what part of Southampton you from? Don't know the city very well but have some friends that live there. Have explained the rivalry to the locals here and they don't get it unless you explain it is like the Bruins and Canadians hockey matches.... the rivalry runs deep with them two hahahahahaha Glad another Hampshire body is on the site. such venom from a Skate - although you do belie your heritage with such a poised diatribe.
Quite a difference from the natural tendency of your tribe to indulge in mindless violence and destroy your own town centre after you had WON the football game! that incident never ceases to amuse me... I cant claim to have been born here but have lived here since childhood - so it is home. I'm in the Bitterne Park area of town - good for the schools (or as good as the gun'mint can put together!) I have family living in a PO postcode and its getting to be a real pain to wash the car after each visit but that smell is sooo hard to get off... ![]() |

My diatribe, as you say, has been toned down considerably so that someone of your position in the food chain can understand it,,, alas although you are not an inbreed like so many of your tribe I see the ignorance of a low gene pool has already affected you... the term skate refers to a sailor and I believe both cities have these individuals. So calling a resident of Pompey a skate is kinda sweet and deems that we take pity on such a weak minded badly educated individual
![]() And as for the venom comment sir.... sarcasm has often been misinterpreted as aggression (read venom) by the lowly educated. But you do possess a small degree of above average use of the English language that perhaps is a reflection on your roots.... however no matter how good the roots are the manure they grow up in will eventually effect the outcome of the final plant. You moved there as a child??? were your family outcasts from the normal world that you were banished to such a god forbidden place? As for the football elements in Pompey... I will have to agree with you totally that these elements are indeed a mob of brainless cretins obviously spawns of cross breeding with scummers. It was not long ago that your tribe would hurtle bottles and coins at players who did not do well... also racist chanting was avid I can recall... perhaps each tribe has it's football following cretins.... still at least Pompey's mindless footie hooligans have something to destroy about... when is the FA cup final by the way. I would enjoy casting ALL football yobs out into the sea... or onto the Isle of Widget hahahahaha I am sorry to hear that you have family living in the PO catchment area... did they lie on their application form where they came from to get property in Pompey??? as for the smell.. I agree I have always found people from Southampton rather smelly... normally of sweaty curry... but I would have thought you would be used to that by now. Where do they live... Paulsgrove perhaps??? Still the good thing about you visiting these people in Pompey you can be happy in the knowledge that at least your car will not be on blocks with the wheels missing unlike Southampton. I hear that theft is so rife in Southampton that at night people take in their front door steps to avoid them being stolen!!!!! Des ![]() ![]() ![]() |

feel better? (whats going on with the smileys?? - its a Pompey conspiracy!!) The whole Pompey/Saints thing is a peculiar enjoyment for me - I am a fan of the game but have zero allegiance to any organisation that attracts people from all four corners of the globe to their 'team'; these people then purport to have a local, emotional commitment and deny playing for any reason other than cold, hard cash. p'raps that's why I'm here and not on come-on-you-reds/blues/yellows/stripes/dots/dashes*.com (* delete as applicable) but feel free to hurl the abuse as hard and as fast as you like - i learnt long ago not to argue with a Pompey-ite. Its like wrestling with a pig in the mud - sooner or later, you realise the pig is enjoying it. ![]() Last edited by redfox1066 : 05-05-2008 at 08:52 PM. |
