Tesco's is more food orientated with the other bits as extra's... where as Walmart is the extra's full stop... and ASDA is the best of both worlds.... here in Canada we have Stupid Store (Super Store)... and my god the stores are BIG.
I am guessing that for Tesco's to move into the States it is a big gamble as the products would be different and the suppliers different too.... new relationships with suppliers and import conditions to be met... bet that would cost a pretty penny indeed. Safeway is here and in the Uk and in the US I believe.... they are big. |

How come you can't have a Tesco on every corner of every street? Thats basicly how it is with McDonalds down here!

Because the owners of all the corner shops would go on a rampage.
If a company has stores everywhere then the consumer will have less options, which isnt good for the companies image. It follows the same principles as why the US dosent allow monopolies, just their is no actual law here about it. Kev ![]()

Where we're from (myself and Bam and Constantine), we have Safeway, King Sooper's, and Albertson's for groceries (those are the big supermarkets).
Wal-Mart (which I hate btw) is everywhere except in Boulder (they don't allow chain shops there, there isn't even a Pizza Hut). Target's kinda big here (nowhere near the size of Wal-Mart though) and there are a few K-Marts left too. A little more west like in Phoenix and L.A. and such, their main supermarket chain is called Ralph's. |
