Thumbs up Free Unbricking - CFW Service

The time has come to stop people selling things that do not belong to them. Yes, I am talking about Custom Firmware and Pandoras Battery.

I can see lots of people selling such services on Ebay etc... and it makes me mad, when all they have done is downloaded it like the rest of us and made minor tweaks.

To this end, I will offer to unbrick any PSP Slim or Fat free of charge.

All you need to do is contact me and I will explain what is required to complete the downgrade/upgrade - unbrick etc....

All I ask is that if the PSP is being posted then make sure it has sufficient pre paid postage to return it.

To the mods... i have spoken to this guy about this thread and i dont see it as breaking the rule i made about this.

However, i am noticing one flaw in this which is... who would trust sending their psp to a stranger on a forum?

Im not saying you would do anything of the sort, but its bound to pop up in peoples decisions.

Kev,

I totally agree with what you are saying about sending off your beloved PSP to a stranger.

All I can say is that I am a 100% genuine person who merely wants to help people enjoy the PSP to its full potential.

Should anyone wish to take up this offer then of course they are taking a risk, all be it with Royal Mail and not me. The sender will have my full contact details provided by me and are free to contact me at anytime they wish.

I have done this for quite a few people now and they have all been over the moon with the results. Admittedly these people are friends of friends etc...

If anyone lives in Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Essex then I would be more than happy for them to meet me and I can do the business while you wait - so to speak. In turn these people can add messages to the forum explaining who I am, what I do etc......

PS. I do get around with my job and no I am not a travelling salesman. I regularly visit Scotland, Ireland, Wales and all major towns and cities in the UK.

There is a massive program like this on MaxConsole, I believe. There's a list of where people live and how to contact them so that you can get your PSP amazing-ified for free.

The list on Max Console looks really good.

Come on Kev, can't we do something like that for all the PSP Forum users?

Sign me up for a start and I'm sure others will follow suit later.

I tried to PM the guy that set up the list but his mailbox is full, guess he's a busy guy.

PS. Can't do any unbricking for a week or so, my mates borrowed my battery and memory card to unbrick his nephews PSP in Kansas.

Its not a decision i would make on my own for this site. I would need to talk to the other staff about it as i alone dont call the shots.

I think it is a good idea, however i can see downsides being alot of hassle if something goes wrong etc.

I'd be interested in a service that let me run CFW like this... I would even pay for it!! not alot, mind. I'm tight!

I asked in my local CEX if they knew any way of putting my PSP to CFW but they didnt know anyone themselves to sort it for me.

From a liability point of view, I cant see the forum being responsible for any bricking that may occur - if it comes to it, a simple disclaimer signed by both parties prior to any messing about should be sufficient to prevent any wrangling later on...

amb67; would you be up for sorting my unit? it isnt bricked but i am not able (technically as much as anything else) to go thru the motions to get a CFW running on it. How long would the process take? I live in Southampton and travel around (I AM a travelling Sales Rep), so getting to you somewhere in the South East is no real hardship....

Hi Redfox1066,

Like I said in my initial post, I don't want any remuneration for this service.

It's a simple case of replacing the memory card and inserting the Pandoras battery. Takes around 3 mins to update and will put you on 3.80 M33 - 5.

If you are visiting me at my home address I'll connect to the internet and put you on the latest CFW which at this time is 3.90 M33 - 2.

As for the disclaimer, well I've done loads now and not one has gone wrong. That's not to say something couldn't happen but the PSP owner needs to be aware that it could permanently damage the PSP.

Is your a Fat or Slim PSP?

PM me and we can arrange a date and time for you to pop up and get your PSP on to CFW or meet up somewhere convenient.

With the weather we are having in the UK at the moment so do I, Western Sydney Australia is probably a damn sight warmer than the UK.

If you wanna have a bash at getting on to custom firmware follow this guide and you can't go wrong. Just make sure you don't miss any bits out.
