Default Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition

Got this game yesterday and have given it a good run for its (read MY) money and here are my fiurst impressions so far...

IT TAKES AGES TO LOAD EACH SECTION OF THE GAME AAARRRGGGGGHHHH

The graphics are good if a little dark, at the moment I am night racing in rain so I am hoping that this is the atmosphere setting stuff not the norm.

The detail in the surrounding City is really good... lot's of stuff for you to 'cruise' mode about and jump over and through. Some Shopping malls (arcades) and stadiums are all up for a little driving mayhem.

You have numerous methods to play this game depending on your moods.. if all you want to do is to explore then just cruise about... but you can race for cash or for quedos all of which goes towards your career as a street racer.

The handling of the cars is a little 'robotic' and nowhere near as fluid as Ridge Racer but the more I customize my ride it seems to get a little better, or perhaps that's me getting used to it.

That brings up nicely unto the garages where you can do ANYTHING to your rides... great thought has gone into this section of the game and it's good fun to spend the cash from the races you have won on fancy bits for the car... obviously engine upgrades, turbos, Nos, Transmissions, air intakes, suspension, exhaust, computer management systems... you name it... then the pretty stuff like paint jobs and tinted windows (lots of colours) and neons and light clusters, vinyls and decals and... you get the idea.. The programme 'Pimp Your Ride' has nothing on this game.

Ok to sum up...

Game Idea really good.

Locations to race in excellent (if a little dark).

Car physics not so hot as Ridge Racer.

Play time in the garages is GREAT.

Loading time between everything is REALLY BAD :x

The music is not my cup of tea but seems ok if you like THUD THUD THUD

Am I glad I spent $49Canadian on this game... well the way I look at it that's about £22 and I have had that amount of fun from it so far I guess.

I am hoping the more I play and the better I become the more I will get into it. But Ridge Racer it is not.

if this is you first experience with a midnight club game then you will have to understand that 90% of the races take place at Midnight (thus the name of the game) and the rest are either in the early morning or at sunset.

I loooove all of the special upgrades, i have a really sick GTO (from the 60s i think) and i feel like no ones car out there looks like mine because all of the indepth costomization.

the load times suck but, i like to listen to music or have the TV on while i play so i dont pay any attention to the loading screen and that makes it seem much faster.

i strongly suggest investing in this game, even if you dont want it for the psp you should ABSOLUTELY get it for PS2 or XBOX

Ok I have put aside the loading times and the dark screen (yes yes I did notice the game has the word MIDNIGHT in it  ) and have played it extensively for a day or so...

UPDATE...

I am really enjoying it now... I have a selection or cars to choose from incvluding a completely freaked out C300 (strange how I like one 8) ) a chopper and a Lexus... I am ripping up the streets looking for these damn tokens and basically making the cars get everywhere to find them.

Racing against bikes in a car is a hoot... one can knock the riders off then run over them!!! and with me being a Biker I can now see the appeal the tin box drivers have to trying to do that to me in real life

i've also heard of a game where you race for the pink slips of the opposing car. Sounds good but i'm possesive so i would like have a panic attack before each race.

I bought this game. 80% of carrer already done! I like the game a lot. However, I cant compare with any other games, because I havent played any besides Metal Gear Solid Acid, which is one of the WORST games I've ever played.

80% complete - is the game too short, or have you just been playing it loads?

Also, how much freedom do you get over modding your ride?

u get more freedom then in nfsu: rivals and if u do optional races which r for money but not percent completion then the game is a lot longer.

hmmm I have been playing this for a while now and am still racing and collecting funds to buy and winning cars... not sure that one would be finishing this too soon as I have many many more cars to win etc.

Man you can customise enough for me... I have three cities to race in and still have races to do in the first city.

80% complete... man you must be addicted to this game.. good for you.

Oh man! I just finished my career! All cars unlocked, all cities available....I am sad.

It took me 2 weeks to finish this game. But I was playing maximum 2-3 hours per day.

Still quite a long time.
