Default Good Adventure/RPG game?

Hi all. I am looking into purchasing an RPG game. I would like a game similar to Popolocrois, where the graphics are nice and the fighting is turn based.

I already have Legend of Heros I, II, and III.

I have tried to locate Tales of Eternia here in the U.S. (Illinois) for months and have had no luck. I purchased Y's and promptly returned it do to the long load times.

The objective, for me, is to have a game where the challenge is more towards solving quests. I don't want to have fighting the main goal in order to succeed in the game.

Thanks gang!

There's really nothing out right now, besides Tales of Eternia, that I can really recommend to you. And Tales of Eternia isn't available in the US. If you want it, you're gunna have to import it.

The good rpgs have yet to come.

He already has Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion.

And I heard Blade Dancer sucked. Haven't heard much about Breath of Fire.

Maybe you should wait a little while and see how Valhalla Knights does. It sounds pretty good.

Weezer and st jimmy-

Thank you for your input. Sounds like a thin pool of RPG/adventures games out there right now. I will keep my eye on Valhalla Knights.

Have you folks played Kingdom Paradise? I read a bit about it and was curious if this might be similar to what I am looking for?

There are a ton of RPG's ... but they pretty much all suck. My personal faves are Dungeon Siege and Valkyrie Profile and Tales of Eternia. Each has issues that keep them at the 'good' level.

txa1265-

Thanks for taking the time to share your opinion.

Did Valkyrie Profile have load time issues? I recall renting one which was brutal. I played for half an hour and returned it to the store due to the frustrating "Loading" messages.

I read very good reviews of this one, however, that's why I went out and rented it.

In your opinion, were the load times a minor issue when compared to the game play it provides?

I have and it's not very good. Really not much good to say about this one. An action-rpg with long and boring fights. That's what I thought at least.

What I noted in my review was:

Quote:
Load times are long in most areas, and the game seems to almost incessantly need to access the game disk for something.

Many of the graphics look great, especially the highly detailed backgrounds and the same is true for the exciting soundtrack, but the character graphics in particular look quite bad.

The constantly repeating battle calls and other dialogue also become very tiresome before the end of the first chapter.

Despite these things, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth easily ascends to the throne of ‘best PSP role-playing game', and offers many hours of gameplay as well as plenty of replayability as you attempt to unlock the best ending on the hardest difficulty in order to explore the secret dungeon.
