Default Toca Race Driver 2

OK, so after finding out GT Mobile will be delayed..AGAIN...I thought I'd treat myself to a racing game, I saw Toca2 and thought I'd give it a try, I didn't like Toca Touring Car on the ps1 but thought they would have improved.

And I've got to say, I am very impressed, graphics look good enough for the PSP, the cars + tracks all look very life-like.

The gameplay is addictive, at first you play it like any racing game by taking the corners too fast and ramming into other racers to slow you down, this works, but do it more than once and you damage your car too much to carry on, the first few races are easy ones in good-handling fast cars with rubbish opponents, this made me think the game was too easy and I was going to complete it in a day.

Well now im on day three and the amount of restarts I have had is HUGE, the opponents get tougher and the races get harder (especially in supertrucks) once you get the hand of your braking distance and taking the racing line it becomes very addictive and fun, the different ranges of vehicles keeps you interested and the cut-scenes are pretty decent too.

Bad points - multiplayer is only ad-hoc, you are limited to what races you can do in time-trial (and you must unlock them all first in career), and in career you have only 1-2 choices in which race you want to do next, then no choice of which car you want to drive.

All in all, I give it 8.5/10
