Default Ridge Racer Review and Video

Ridge Racer

Click here to view a video of me playing Ridge Racer on my PSP.

I used UMD Emualtor to run this game iso.

Release Notes: PSP installment in Namco's long-running racing series. The launch title for the platform offers single race, world tour, multiplayer and options. Time attack lets you select a course and race against a ghost car in order to beat your times. Single race takes place against twelve other racers. Options lets you customize settings and play through a few mini games (such as Rally X) and access an "AV Theater" where you can watch replay style races with the computer as the driver. World Tour is the main mode of focus for the single player Ridge Racers experience, and there seems to be a whole lot to it. Choose from a number of pre-set tours that take you through multiple race sessions set on different tracks. You can also have the game generate a tour randomly. Races are set up like a cup in other race games, with each race held separately. You need to clear a certain position in order to advance through the tour.

My Review

Gameplay: This is one of the first PSP Games released in 2004 Japan and one of the best ones too. The gameplay in this game is exhilerating. Many racing games don't have good controls and you're always crashing into the walls or other cars but not in this game. This game focuses on "drifting". When you want to turn the car it doesn't turn but it drifts smoothly. This allows you to drift through narrow areas. Check the video of me playing to see what I mean. The gameplay and controls are excellent.

Graphics: I have got to say that these are the kind of grahics I've seen in PS2 games. It includes it all on just a 1.8GB disc. It has the shadows, the shading, the polygons on the cars which looks damn good and the eye dazzling scenes. May I mention that it also has many different sound effects such as an echo when in a tunnel and screetching when dirfiting and so on. Again, check the video to see all.

Overall: This game is a must download/purchase for any PSP owner. It also includes Mulitiplayer Wi-fi support to play with other friends. I would give it a 9/10.
