Default Confused

Ok here's the deal.

I have a JAP psp with 1.5 firmware. I also have a memory card with some emulators on but I am getting bored of playing those and want to play some actual PSP umd games.

How do I do this, I understand I cannot just whack a UMD in and expect it to play?

I also understand I cannot use my browser or wifi?

Please clarify because I know nothing.....

Cheers

So you just buy a game and it will play?

I heard it would automatically update firmware which I don't want?

Do all games play?

Recent games more than likely require the updated firmware, older games will not. IMO emulators and the like get boring very quickly as I played them to death when i owned the game.

Opinions, opinions.

If I were you I would stick to your 1.5 and use the various launchers to allow the later UMD's to work on your PSP. There are some that won't work but overall there are a lot of 2.5 games that will.

Speaking personally, I wouldn't be willing to sacrifice my 1.5 homebrew for any game that is currently available.

What about

Metal Gear Acid or Socom?

Newer firmware?

Do you think it is better to upgrade my firmware and sod my emulators?

What firmware shall I upgrade to?

Both Socom and Metal Gear Acid UMD's work with the Devhook .41 launcher.

I've heard about this Devhook launcher.

Do I download it and put in on a memory stick and then when I put a game in it will play?

Where can I DL it from?

Is it easy to do?

I appreciate all this help....

This is where problems start - to work it requires the decrypted firmware files from firmwares 2.0 and 2.5 and these are illegal to post and link so are not allowed on here. You need to find them yourself but it's easy enough to do. If you look hard enough you will be able to download the package with everything already on it - you then just need to copy it to your PSP memory stick.

If you do a search on google you can find a tutorial of how to do it.

Ok I'll look into that.

What games do you recommend that should play as the psp is now and ones that will require a launcher?
