I don't think it AUTOMATICALLY updates the FW :?

No, it doesn't. When fully configured Devhook makes your PSP literally into a 2.5 machine including the browser and most UMD game compatibility. However, it is only running via software and can be changed back to 1.5 with a hard reset. Just don't run a 2.6/2.7/2.71 update within it because it will brick your PSP.
