how do you get a boost start in ridge racer? :?:

i know how to get infinite boost. After choosing your car and all, press and hold down select button, then start the race with infinite boost.

Doesn't that kinda spoil the game though? :?:

Knew that though as I've seen the credits that oddly roll up half way through the pro tour. Why is that? :?
