What IGN says in a preview is this:

But for the upcoming X-Men Legends II, developer Vicarious Visions looks to be pushing forward with a game that mimics its console brother and does so with an impressive engine under the hood.

According to Vicarious Visions' CEO Karthik Bala, when development started on the game, there were thoughts that the company may have to scale back from the console game and maybe only include three or so of the five chapters that were in the console version. But after a bit of experimenting, the developers were not only able to include all five, but managed to cram in nine "comic book missions" that are exclusive to the PSP game.

Which is very promising.

In these -- which are hidden around the environments -- you get to play through various greatest hits stories from the X-Men universe. Each mission is kept short (roughly 15 minutes or so) to work well on the portable system, and when you add these to the rest of the game, there is actually more content available in the PSP game than in the console/PC versions. Another PSP bonus is that there will be four exclusive playable characters, further adding to the value of the portable game.

Again, very promising.

In our hands-on time with the game, everything ran extremely smoothly (and basically mimicked the console experience) in single-player, and was missing a bit of animation but still ran impressively in co-op. The multiplayer will be available via ad-hoc or infrastructure play for players who want to take things online.

Coolness - but on the other hand they call it "the first RPG for the PSP" ... and when inaccuracies like that surface I worry about other stuff. But it looks quite promising.
