Default Mercury

Mercury was the 1st game I ever played on the PSP (in the shop a week before they were launched). After getting my PSP and playing Lumines and TOCA I thought, ok I want a new game, not a racer but a puzzle game that typifies your hand held. So I got Mercury. I am a little dissapointed to be honest. What I played in the shop is all I got when I got home. Sure the physics are nice, and the graphics are acceptable to good but the loading times are long and there is very little variation in gameplay and puzzle. The whole time I was playing it I thought "well its good, but its no lumines". On a whole I would recommend this to anyone who likes puzzle games but personally I would wait for it to drop in price a bit. Little to no music and sparse sound effects also make it a little dull.

Graphics 7/10
Sound 5/10
Replayability 7/10
Value for money 5/10

over all 6/10

Thats my 2 cents!

Well, as a puzzle fan I got both Lumines and Mercury. I played Mercury first and just sat there and played for hours.. fascinating and irritating at the same time, that's a good sign. I immediately remembered an old puzzle game classic I played on the arcades back in the day and later on my c64, Marble Madness. Mercury is the Marble Madness 2005 version. Extremely fun, irritating and addictive.

Then I played Lumines and after my first game I was allready bored and disappointed. I told myself... hmm, I can get this game as freeware for my PC.

I think Mercury is very original despite the similarities to Marble Madness. It has a multitude of fun and exciting levels. I'd give Lumines 5/10 and Mercury 9/10 as it is now.

Just my 2 cents!

Gents cheers for your views and comments, both or which are well written and informative.

It just goes to show how personal games actually are though as you both have expressed your feelings for the opposite games.

I have Lumines and have played Mercury... I can sit down and play Lumines for a fair old while in one sitting then it goes back into the box for a while... must admit to having a hoot playing it wifi with my mate back in the UK last month.
Mercury I played on my own PSp as a friend brought it round for me to try. I must echo the sentiments of Boreas as that it is a frustrating game to play. I was not gripped or even challenged just frustrated with it.
To be fair I did not give it a good 'seeing' to to get into it but my initial reaction was the same as Boreas. But each to there own I guess.

Again Gents great postings and very informative. Oh and welcome to the forum jtillnes.
