Default Can't play 1st Person Shooters on PSP

I've given up on 1st Person shooters. I tried Star Wars Battlefront and SOCOM. It's just horrible. Who came up with the idea of NOT having a second analog controller on the PSP? In SOCOM, you have to push a button to switch to "moving" mode, and push it again to switch to "looking" mode. But in the middle of the battle, you can't afford to keep switching. You need to be moving and looking at the same time.

The PSP is the best portable out there, but when it comes to this particular game genre, I don't think I will ever buy a first person shooter for the PSP. SWB is my favorite series on the PC (and PS and XBox). But I couldn't stand it on my PSP.

I hope Sony will release some sort of device for the PSP that adds a second analog.

These forums are dead, but I'll post anyway. I play Syphon Filter(all of them) and Medal of honor Heroes 1 and 2, and they both offer a contol scheme that basically swaps the controls of a normal FPS on a console. It makes the Face buttons (square, circle, x, and triangle) into the movement buttons, the analog stick into the look stick, and the d-pad into the actions(reload, jump, weapon switch, ect.). It's not that hard to get used to, and it offers almost the full FPS experience on PSP.

It sucks that Socom, Metal Gear Solid, and I think Star Wars don't offer this control scheme. (MGS kind of does, but it doesn't work well)

Hope you give it a chance, I have a great time with psp shooters now that I learned to play that way.

I'm not much of a Socom FTB player, but I think for that game it's good to use lock-on to pop to the target and then switch to free look really fast and aim at the head. I could be wrong though.

Yeah I know what you mean. I was never impressed with 1st person shooters as much as games like Liberty City, NBA Ballers or other sports games.
