Default Playstation games - what is platinum version?

Looking to buy a playstation game for my son. Came across two versions of the same game. On one of them it says 'platinum' version. What is the difference?

I'm pretty sure 'platinum version' is when they reissue a popular game at a cheaper price, such as Daxter, Wipeout Pure and Star Wars Battlefront 2

I think they're identical to the original releases aside from the packaging

platinum is exactly the same as the original game but if you buy a platinum you know you will be buyin a quality game as they only bring out the best games in platinum... It is like winning an award for the makers... (A platinumm award)
