Burnout is very addictive and its really good. Toca is not bad but i didn't really like the game play. Midnight club for street racing but beware the load times. The NFS series is not bad however i felt that most wanted was the best.

Wipeout series is not good. It's a boring game.

Try this:
-Ridge racer series
-NFS series (especially most wanted)
-Burnout series

Burnout and Ridge Racer games are the way to go imo.
