Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines
Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines (AC) is now officially my favourite game. As many of you may know, I was very nervous about expecting too much of this game, then being horribly disappointed. I couldn’t judge straight away, but after an hour of gaming, I knew that this was a great game. Although I haven’t played the first AC, I heard many stories of the game being too repetitive and boring. This definitely isn’t the case with Bloodlines.
The Good
Graphics.
When I’m playing a game, I like to look at attention to detail; Ubisoft has done very well here (if that’s their area). 9/10
Controls.
Great and easy to understand and adapt to straight away. 10/10
Gameplay.
This wasn’t the best game I’ve ever played, but it comes pretty damn close. In comparison to a game like God of War: Chains of Olympus, (which in my opinion are similar) of coarse GOW has done better. I my opinion this area is better than average games. 9/10
Storyline.
I very much liked the story line. Your name is Altair, and you are an assassin. The game takes place between Assassin’s Creed 1 and 2. You are in Cyprus, and well you have to kill people
. Sorry, I never pay much attention to any story line of any game I have ever played. I don’t know why. But if this matters to you, which it doesn’t for me, I suggest another review. 8/10
Upgrading.
At intervals, you are able to upgrade your weapon damage, health, etc. with the templar coins you found and earn. I know this isn’t so amazing, but I wasn’t expecting this. 8/10
Weaponry.
You have for the whole game 3 weapons and your fists to use. Altair starts off with 3 daggers, which you can throw at an enemy and retrieve. You are able to upgrade to 5 later on. A long sword which I used only for battles. And you hidden knife which you stab a soldier whom is not expecting the attack, which can be great fun.
Glitches.
Well I didn’t experience one glitch while I was playing so that was a plus. 10/10
Sounds.
Footsteps, slashing of sword, climbing ladders, pigeons flying away, all the basics. What else do you want? I even bought new headphones to use just for this game. And it’s the only game I have used the sound all the way through. 10/10
The Bad
Online Play.
Before playing the game, I was hoping for some online play. I was disappointed, but not too harshly because I was thinking about what you would do online, and I couldn’t think of anything. I don’t know much about this, because it doesn’t affect me. But I know you are able to connect your PSP to your PS3, and if you have both Assassin’s Creed 2 and Bloodlines, apparently you can upgrade or something like that. If you’d like to know more about that I recommend reading another review.
Difficulty.
This severely disappointed me. I was hoping to first finish the game on easy, then on medium, and give it a shot at hard. That’s what I did with GOW, I finished all the difficulties except God mode (the hardest), which I couldn’t finish the last level. Because there was a massive and nail biting wait for me, I was disappointed when the game didn’t ask me what difficulty I would like to choose.
Overall
Well here in Australia the game is $70, well that’s what I payed. And I just saw it at other stores for $60. So 60 AUD would be about 33.5 GBP. Great game will definitely go down in price later on. I’ve seen God of War: Chains of Olympus for 20AUD, which is about 10 GBP. If you’re running short on money and you haven’t played GOW, I’d definitely recommend it over AC any day, as long as AC costs that much more.
The inability to change the difficulty and the shortness of the game kills it for me. So I’ve lowered the overall rating purely on those two. But it was still a very good game, for me.
Overall Rating: 9/10
Well I know this review is quite short and you can tell it was rushed. I had very little time to write this and I wrote most of it today, while my parents are at work and I’m home alone. I don’t get much time on the computer. I don’t think I would’ve ended up posting it if I didn’t promise everyone. this has been my first reveiw ever, so please no put downs children.
