    Patapon review.

    PATAPON!

Finally, after about a week of playing, I get to post a review on my favourite game....ever.
This is game is ingenious! With Rhythym, strategy and many other genres just smashed into one game.

After about 2 hours of playing - non-stop - I found it incredibly boring. But I put a little thought into it, and managed to figure out my problems. At first I thought it wouldn't allow more that one army of patapons and that the Yaripons (spearmen) and Yumipons (archers) were not allowed to fight side by side. But that was easily fixed.

Master the arts of playing up to 6 different beats, each telling the patapons simple tasks such as advance, block and attack (and more).

The only down sides is the Pause screen (it doesn't have one) and the multiplayer (Doesn't have any). But I see why there is no multiplayer, because other than battling and sharing what could you do online? And you would be mainly only sharing with friends, leaving many just with the battling side of things.

If you have never tried Patapon (or it's sequel), just head on down to the Playstation store and download the demo. It's packed with entertainment, although not that long. You can even get a "Spear of Protection" for finishing the demo! Which of course, will help you lot's.

The graphics are just amazing, although they don't seem like much, take a look at a few of the screenshots. The patapons just blend in so well with the background, and vice-versa that it seems like a game sent by almighty!

There isn't really alot of story in this game, it just follows the patapons and how they were on their last legs. In search of 4 drums (Pata, pon, Chka, Don). But then almighty comes along, and leads them to victory allowing them to defeat rival tribes and bosses.

Even after finishing the game you'll have lot's of fun. After defeating a boss, their "level" goes up each time, leaving you with a much harder challenge until you kill it on level 100.

Minigames are even fantastic in this game. There's a massive range of things to do (for prizes) even without going on missions or hunting and just staying back at the tribe. It ranges from playing the trumpet with an itchy tree, to hitting spoons on a baby mountains toes. They're just simply amazing.

I've read some reviews on other sites that say that you have to go hunting every single time....that's rubish. The only time you need to go for a hunt is when you need Ka-ching (the patapon currency) or meat for the minigames.

With easy play but difficult levels, I'd give this game:
    Graphics 9/10
    Sounds 9/10
    Gameplay 10/10
    Replay Value 11/10
    Overall 9.5/10

Definatly worth having in your collection of games.

Good review mate! Not so sure about the 11/10 score for replay value. That's not a real stat. Not trying to be picky, just giving you some tips. I have never played this game but I can see it's appeal, though I felt you did the game justice.

    Good shout........

Nice review... it is a great game but i found that after a while (read hours) I started to get bored with it. The newness and unusual gameplay got tired quite quickly for me.

I find myself wanting to play it every now and again and it gets put in the psp for a few hours and then back on the shelf again.

Many thanks for the review though well done indeed.

Thanks for the comments guys. I had actually originally posted the Stats and one of the paragraphs on my gamespot review of it.
I hadn't thought to change it.

Everyone has their own opinion I guess, in some reviews this game has gotten a 4 (although they didn't even state a reason) and some people have given it a 10.

The only part that's annoying for me, is the difficulty of some (keyword: some) levels. The Zigtons are annoying, I'm finally up to (possible gameplay spoiler) When you get their catapault >=D after about 2 nights of levelling up my Yumipons to rarepons I finally finished the Zigton (like, the fourth I think) battle. And it took me about a week to finish one of the bosses, the worm one (now level 3).

I felt you did the game justice.
    Thanks mate!
    Glad you liked it.

I'd read heaps more reviews on it first. Read the bad, and the good, my one mainly focused on the good. I actually read just about all of them possible before getting this game. Also maybe watch some videos (if possible) and get the demo.

I'm going to edit this these holidays (2 days) so I focus more on the bad side, without changing too much

    Thanks again.

haha, yeah. we finish school soo too

yeah, hotfuzz said i can write the reveiw on Assassin's Creed Bloodlines.

ill try to get the game as soon as possible, but i think the game is released a lil' later here in australia.

i will not be disspaointed that much if someone gets annoyed that the reveiw takes a while, and writes one themself. i just thought because i'm so excited, i would love to do it.

    I personally can't wait. =D

No problem mate, I probably won't be getting it until days after the release! (probably when it gets on the PSN).

Sent you a Message about the date

Same thing we me and patapon, except from my scores, I was obviously a little too excited :P

Just to add this review section is an open source!! I have no control over who submits reviews. You do not need my permission to submit a review, I just look after the content and encourage people to make reviews. It's peeps like you guys that make it what it is. (a rich source of info)

I said I wished you to do the Assassins Creed review because I know you have your heart set on it. I will not be posting a review of this game on here. I will comment though probably. I just want to thank everyone who has contributed to this section of the forum. I hope all the new members continue to support psp-forum in the coming future.

    Thanx again

Well said HF.... but there is no rule as to how many reviews we have for the same game on here... I actually like the idea of reading two or three reviews from different people with different points of view... gives me a better feel for the game that way.
