Default USB issues and etc

Hi!

Just bought a PSP and really need help as I'm a noobie.

1) I'm having problem trying to copy Mp3 file to the PSP. As according to most guides, I connected the PSP and activated the USB connection from the PSP itself. However, everytime I try copying files directly to the music folder. The USB connection terminates automatically. The 1st song goes through but not the rest.

2) I tried playing a particular song in the PSP but it says corrupted data. However, the song played normally in the PC. Is it normal?

Would really appreciate some advice. Thanks!

Can you transfer other files, like videos?

Also, the MP3's, were they taken from a single file and split, or modified in any way, the psp is very particular on what it plays.

Try transferring one of the demo songs that comes with your operating system, they should work.

Also, try other USB ports.

Thanks for the quick reply, Kernel Kev.

I'm not sure to the file's source as it was downloaded. Anyway, I tried to disconnecting and reconnecting the usb physically, and it worked this time. But I did have do copy the files 1 by 1.

Now a new problem has popped. Some unidentified files were created. Very odd named files. In fact, one of the file's size was indicated at 10GB (Impossible, i know). I tried to delete it both through the PC and PSP but in vain. The msg was that I do not have access to the file??? Is the card corrupted?

Thats very strange.

Try reformatting your card on the psp.

Where did you buy the card from?

Its a 4GB. Came with the PSP but I believe its not original SONY. It has other games in the card and they were working fine. Anyway, I think I'll just bring it back to the vendor and let them fix it. I'll update the solution, if any. Many thanks.

I was wondering, did you all get a USB cable with your PSP? I didn't.

I got the GIGA pack, which it came with, check the manual, it tells you the box contents in there.

They are only a few quid (£ to you yankies lol) so no real problem.

Found out that the windows media player was messing with the data transfer to the memory card. I can't really explain it but the usb connection will fail if I have the player active. Everything works fine when it's not active.

Oh, well.
