Default Stuttering Screen

Recently my psp has been turning on but the screen stays blank. However, sometimes i can still get it on. I can still play games, but if i leave it in the normal menu or try to listen to music or look at pics or anything thats not game related, the frame rate drops to a quarter of what it should be. Music is distorted and you can see pixelation in the menu. It also take a while to load menu's(like to delete pictures or something like that).

Is this a problem that happens often? Is there a fix for it?

I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks, J.Ohene

I don't think this is a common occurence. It sounds to me like you might have a defective system. Is it under warranty? If it is I'd either take it back to the place you bought it or contact Sony for a replacement. Sorry that's the only advice I can give.
