Default How big and what brand?

Hi, i just got myself a new PSP slim in black.

and was wondering how big a mem stick i can get for it, as i serched ebay and found you can buy 8gig ones now would they work in it?

and also is there a particular brand that works best in the PSP.

thank you

What country are you in? I'd shoot for a 4 GB because I don't think 8 GBs can be used on the earlier firmwares.

If you're in the US, I'd go for this one. (That's the one I'm using, I can guarantee it works well) Newegg's a good company with darn near the cheapest prices on things I've seen.

If you're somewhere else, Sandisk is typically cheaper for the same quality of memory card.

im in Australia, and not sure what version it is as not checked it yet, its a slim n lite in Piano Black though.

I have a sandisk 2gig for our sony dig camera but thought there is no point using that to save games as when i get my own one i cannot transfer the saved games over, or can i?

You can. Do you know what homebrew is? I take it you don't, it's like Super Mario Bros. and stuff on your PSP, if you'd be interested in that, I'd say get at LEAST a 4 GB memory stick, if not, 2 GB is fine.

Also, inorder for you to be able to use homebrew, you'd have to know someone with a PSP on a custom firmware so they can make you something so your PSP can get on a custom firmware.

i have heard of home brew but unsure as to what is it exactly, and from what i know the new slim lite PSP's are hard to get to get it to work. i have had a qwik read of putting it back to version 1.5 and then foward again, all with a risk of stuffing the unit up.

I think i will end up getting the 4gig, was wondering if the 8gig would work though as i would of prefered that as i will be using it for music n movies at work.

Yes, for the slim n lite, the 8 GB stick will work fine. I think it won't go on the lower firmwares, so you've got noting to worry about. If you've got the money for the 8 gig, I'd say go for it.
