Uber Confused!
Im new to all of this PSP business, the modding is something that has intrigued me, but also totally blown my mind apart. I cant understand any of it. Firmware, Kernel, downgrading, upgrading, playing psx rips, psp iso's etc etc.
ive looked at several guides, but non of them seem to talk about hacking the psp in plain english. im guessing a few of these peeps have been doin it for a while and certai terms and abbreviations make perfect sense to them and whoever has been doin it for a while. and some of the files and folders mentioned do not exist on my memory stick anyway. if anyone could help us out id be well appy.
My firmware is version 2.82
if anyone would like any other info just ask
and i dont have that dodgy motherboard either
Id like to upgrade to a decent custom firmware so i can play homebrew software

PSP-Forum Demi-God
Just a heads up...we can't talk about ISO's on this forum...but there are plenty of people to help you out with homebrew. I only got into it for a couple weeks then upgrade, so I'm not much help.

Firmware = the system version your psp is running on. For example Windows XP and Vista is like a PC's firmware. Make sense?
Homebrew = home coded games used for pleasure and some apps are useful like IRremote, takes advantage of the psp infra red port to control TV's etc.
Emulators: These act like another console, so an N64 (console) emulator is run on the psp and a rpi of an N64 game can be played on the PSP.
An ISO is an image of a psp game, they are illegal and we cant talk about them here, if you want to know more then a pm to me and you will find out.
Kernel is me, i am very famous. Nah, kernel is like the inner stuff of the psp, dont worry about that, you wont be dealing with it, thats coder stuff.
Upgrading is going from a lower firmware to a newer firmware, ie, XP to Vista.
Downgrading is the opposite, in order to play homebrew you need to go to firmware version 1.5, then you can upgrade to CUSTOM firmware.
Custom firmware is the newest firmware that sony has released but with homebrew capable features, basically sony removed the ability for homebrew when they upgraded the firmwares past 1.5, hence the reason we need to get back to 1.5
I think thats about it really, i have a thread in the homebrew section which guides through all of this.
P.S. - To the other mods/admins, i notice on my thread that the posts are getting jumbled up, i need to know if its just the forum doing it or other mods are trying to correct spelling errors of such, could you PM me if this is the case, as its bugging me as to why it keeps changing, cheers.

My firmware software is 2.82, and ive looked through your entire guide and it misses this version out.
Can i use another tool to get my firmware down to 1.50?

Moderation in HD
GTA lcs only works with 3.03 so luminies is your only option.
Make sure you get the UK or US version of the game cos the japanese version doesn't work.
