Default What PSP version best to buy

Hi! I'm totally new at this and I'm looking to buy a new PSP for my nephew. Going over the net I came over different versions of the console -- Japanese, English, etc. Some said that the Japanese version had a better screen resolution. Is this true? And what is the best one to buy for being to hack and play all games? What software version should one look for?

Many thanks for all the help you can give me.

Well, you should try to look for a version 1.5 PSP, but those end up being very expensive now. You can try to get a higher 2. something version and then try to downgrade, but that is risky and you might end up breaking it.

Yeah you're best off looking for a PSP that's already on firmware 1.5 or better if on custom firmware, for example 3.30 OE-A, but this can be installed easily on a 1.5 psp, then you're good to go for homebrew. they sell for quite cheap on ebay, there's one ending in 8 mins on £99

Not too sure about different region PSP's but I'd think the difference isn't important.

2.71 should be good to look or 2.5. Easy to downgrade to 1.5 .
