Default Japanese vs US update

Folks, I don't know much about the PSP and am just trying to help my seven year old so please bear with me.
I notice that there's a new update available and was wondering if I could update my Japanese version PSP with the newest US update or will this screw up the PSP?
Or can someone suggest where I can do a Japanese download?
Thanks!!!

What happens if you install the US Firmware on a Jap PSP, does everything go all screwy and hurt itself?

Try googling it, than click on translate to English next to the link, I'll do it now and post the link again in English.

EDIT: okay, here it is, The Japanese PSP Site In English most of it's in ????s, but the stuff you need was mostly translated.
