Default Wireless pro evo problem

Hi guys n' gals, I need your help!!

I was round at a friends trying to set up a wireless game of Pro evo. I have never done it before but am not a complete moron. I hosted a game and my friend (altho he has played it wireless) didn't know how to do it either.

I created a player file and hosted a game then my friend searched for a game. but they didn't detect each other.
so my friend hosted a game and i searched for it, but still no joy.
we EVEN read the instructions (we were getting desperate)

does anyone have any ideas??? :?

A bit of background. Both pro evo games are uk version

My PSP was from hong kong (yeah i couldn't wait for the uk release) but my friends is a UK release PSP

My friend was running firmware version 2.5 mine is firmware 2.71

And don't even insult me by asking if the WLAN swtch was on!

btw, apologies if this has come up before i did search but couldn't find a previous thread on this.
