Hi! I'm new around here...

Hello,
Hope you can help. I have just connected my PSP to my laptop (windows XP) and and it says hardware installed I am then told that the device is unreconised. I have tried uninstalling and trying again and that doesn't work and have reset factory settings on the PSP and still no joy. Has anyone had this problem or offer any advice?? Thanks T |

It will still recognize the drive with no memory stick, but there will be empty when you open it.
This sounds like one or the other (PSP or Laptop) is acting up, because it says it installed it, but then it turns around and says "not recognized"...something's not right.. :?

Haha, this might be the question I was thinking that the other one was, just to make sure though, the PSP is in USB Connect mode and, the USB is completely plugged in right? If those are correct, can you tell me what kind of motherboard, computer, or chipset you have? I can't really help you out unless I know one of the three, the chipset would be the most helpful though, so if you can provide me with one of those I can help you out.
Here's some links that might help you if I'm not on my computer or something. Chipset Information I think this might be the file you need How to identify your chipset |

Thanks for all your help. I have a memory stick inserted in the PSP - I have tried two different ones The USB is connected and I have confirmed this in the system settinngs on the PSP. The chipset number is 852/82855 GM/GME. I hope this is the correct number.
I have never had the problem with any Mass Storage Device before even my phone that have a memory stick duo in Not sure if this would make any difference but, the first time I connected I used the USB lead from my PDA - which looks the same at the PSP one. I would really appriciate any advice on offer. |
