Depending on the store...they might ask you to prove that it wasn't broken from neglect. (That's what Apple does with their iPods atleast) Just take it back and tell them exactly what you just told us.

Yeah, they should replace it. If not, call Sony. And it should still be under warranty as long as you havn't opened it.

:P i know how to fix it
1--remove analog nub
2--Twist the nub back to its original state (sideways)
3--press down REALLY hard!
4--test it out in a game
5--thank me if it works  or get mad if it doesnt

i fixed my little brothers PSP this way
primitive, but it gets teh job done.

doubt it, I too have had some analog stiq problems, but I have fixed them over time, something that might help is tightening ur psp with a screw driver, cuz sometimes the screws are not tight enough and, well this is the way I fixed my problem, yea u probably do have to tighten it because u need pressure on the joy stiq side to make ur character/car move in the direction u want it to move

im lucky i dont have physical probles with my psp.the only thing that was bothering me was when i put on the invisibleshiled the analog stick would bump into it and i couldnt move it up all the way.so it mighta been od that showed me the simplist link

i put a piece of paper in the opening of the analog stick and now it works like a charm
