Default how to determine the version?

hello guys. this is my first time here, and looks like this community is very big and i suppose this is very helpful to everyone. well, i certainly hope on my part too. anyway, as what the title says, obviously i haven't gone far like those who are already in here. i've been reading your threads for a couple of days already cause i am planning to buy a PSP for myself. I've read this Homebrew and it only runs on 1.5V right? if you have a higher version, you can always downgrade your unit to 1.5 as long as it is not a 2.8V...am i right? currently i am in japan now and i went to a store to buy a PSP, unfortunately, i dont speak japanese at all. the clerk didnt understand "version" when i asked it to him. so in this case, i would like to find out what version the unit is but i dont know where to start. can anyone help please? i know this is pretty much easy for you guys. thanks in advance.

go to settings
go to system settings
go down to system information

you can do homebrew on other versions, but ihomebrew works best on V 1.5.
