Default downgrading

im on 2.0 and im wondering if it is worth it to downgrading to 1.5 for all the extra stuff you can do on it.

absolutely. if you upgrade, you'll most likely regret as i do. at least try v1.5, and if you dont like it then upgrade. 'cause when you upgrade, there's no turnin' back. not the same case if you dg though.

The extra stuff you will be getting is more than likely illegal (unless someone writes there own game/application and are making it freely available to all OR you already own the game).

I'm not sure about this one but I think that by downgrading you are breaking your warranty therefore should your PSP break you will have to buy a new one.

Its a matter off opinion, weezer values running Homebrew software as the main functionailty of his PSP **EDIT: Sorry weezer didn't realise you had already updated** whereas I would rather buy the latest games and play those. Just thought I'd give you the other side of the story.....

im sticking with 2.6 for now, homebrew still works with the GTA eLoader, but I'm just sticking so I can use the cheatdevice for GTA, until 3.0 comes out which I will most probably get, SatNav and camera sounds like they'll be beter than homebru

I believe this is incorrect, as sony have no way of knowing if your psp has been downgraded or not, so long as you delete the nessecery files that you needed afterwards, then it will be fine.

I thought this at one point but it is actually incorrect. There are corrupted files left on the PSP which show the downgrade/upgrade process has been done should Sony wish to check it out.

It shouldn't matter anyways. You aren't breaking the physical aspect of the item, and as long as you don't screw with it internally besides the downgrading, you would be fine.
I don't see why Sony cares - when 3.0 comes out we're going to crack the memory stick boot anways :|.

http://news.com.com/Sony+cracks+down...3-5885945.html

Running unauthorized code will void your warranty. Sony constantly update their firmware version to close up these cracks and actively try to get everyone to upgrade by insisting new games require the updates- plus that and they havn't release a UMD burner so they do care.

P.S. I know nothing about hacking and have no interest in learning, so I don't know anything about the memory stick boot.

Well it is obvious, 3.0 comes out with alot of new extras in the firmware, Sony cannot 100% secure a system with so many features.

I was never interested in homebrew at first but now the SNES emulator is working, i regret upgrading to 2.7 for cr*p RSS channel feeds.
