Default Don't wanna upgrade Firmware

Hi,

I have just bought a PSP which has v1.5 firmware installed. The guy I have bought it from has advised me not to used GTA as this will upgrade the Firmware. Now since I want to use homebrew apps then I know that I shouldn't upgrade the firmware.

My question is, if I was to insert a game such as GTA that requires 2.01+ would the game automatically upgrade the firmare first, or would I at least get some kind of choice in the matter?

Do game NEED firmware upgrades to play or is it it just that they have the firmware bundled and allow you to install without going online?

Much appreciated.

you need to upgrade to play some games. but there's ways around it, like downloads and stuff. i dont know what they're called though.

Thanks, but more interested in knowing whether I would be FORCED to upgrade. Not just to play the game (I understand that) but if the Firmware is automatically upgraded then I don't want to risk putting in a game that will cause that to happen.

It's like some PC Games need DirectX 9c before they will run. However just because it needs it doesn't mean that it will automatically install it, it always asks you first. I want to know if the same applies on the PSP.

Thanks

It asks first. And if you download the MPH Launcher it should bypass that effectivly letting you play GTA and such without upgrading.
